Incoterms help buyer and seller define selected costs, logistics responsibilities and the point where risk transfers. They do not replace the purchase contract.
Convenience versus control
A supplier-managed route may appear simpler while reducing visibility over origin charges and documents. Earlier buyer control requires stronger coordination but may provide transparency.
Name the exact place
Always pair the term with a precise port, terminal or place and the applicable version. City-only references leave operating gaps.
Questions before accepting
Choose based on each party’s real capabilities.
- Who clears export?
- Where does risk transfer?
- Who contracts main freight?
- What insurance applies?
- Which local charges are excluded?
AGLO converts the Incoterm into an operational map with responsibilities and control points.
